The Presa Canario Dog: It's true origin

COMMENTARY TO THE SPANISH CLUB OF THE PRESA CANARIO AND SOME RECALLS

   This article, published in the newspaper "El Día"  the 16 November 1984, was the first open critic to the members of the club of the Presa Canario and their policy. In the atmosphere hovered  the discord of most of the fans (same in Tenerife that in Gran Canaria) about the way to make the things on the part of the C.E.P.P.C. His first president, Enrique Fajardo, was as well delegate of the Canine Society of the Canary Islands in Tenerife, and he ignored everything of the Presa Canario Dog, and seeing that the cart-club did not walk, came with his wife to my house to speak with me. He told me things, that I am not going to mention here and he proposed  me (with persistence) to  entry  in the direction  board of the CEPRC, "because with that people nothing can be done" - textual words of Enrique Fajardo -. I thanked him for the invitation and I replied him that with those "oxen is not possible to plow", that he must  not count with me. After X time Enrique Fajardo ended  being president and his position  was occupied by Juan Quevedo Martinón, who during all his management was only a species of decorative figure. The gray brain "of the thing" was, at any moment, "my disciple" Manuel Martín Bethencourt. I say my disciple because this man learned his first canine letters with me in my house, and from my house he took his first dogs of presa, Maján de Irema Curtó  first, son of Tamay de Irema Curtó and Felo, and Teguise de Irema Curtó later, daughter of Guama de Irema Curtó and Gruñón -this one Bulldog of pure breed-. Brother of same litter of Teguise is Campeón de Irema Curtó, and also Tinguaro de Irema Curtó. Of these dogs, and some more from Irema Curtó Kennels, descend most of the presas dogs of Tenerife.   We must just study their pedigrees.
